rigged using Maya
This was my first rig using maya. Above is a collage of tests. I built, rigged , and textured the model from scratch using a physical model as a reference. Born from a cube.
I started with a cube , inserting edge loops and extruding the basic shape.I was inspired to try a technique that built all the topology rather then relying on poly smooth at the end of the process.
Shown here is the geometry within Maya. Here is the model nearing completion.
After the high res model was built , I deconstructed it to have a low res model to animate. Here is the default pose.
Here you can see the project within Maya. I was happy with how the controls came out. The weight painting took some time and a fair bit of tweaking. The rig also has IK to FK switching.
